hello teamies!

sorry for the lack of updates! been having too much fun on my own
and trying to play catch up with my school work/: haha!

melbourne's a pretty nice place, it's been pretty cold since i came,
but it's just about starting to turn warm - SPRING!
when are you guys coming! (: not sure where to bring you guys for sight-seeing,
BUT food! i have a list of where i want to bring you guys to!

i have been eating quite abit of late /: jialat la.
plan was to run around the neighbourhood to offset the calories.
but winter's kinda too cold for that, so i signed up for a gym membership!
they don't do one-time entry like in sg, so it's more worthwhile signing up for one,
else one-time entry is like $15?! xiao.

I ve made pretty nice friends over here(:
my sister's friend is in melbourne, so he kinda helped with the accomodation part.
recently he asked me to try out dragonboating!
went for 2 trial sessions already! not too bad but rowing in the cold aint fun ):
nice scenery though haha.
oh! and 3 other singaporeans, 1 swedish from sch(:

after the day my parents left me, my sister's friends came to bring me out for lunch at this really nice korean place called 'Big Mama' which I'm so bringing you guys there!

hey team!

It's Chinese New Year again! Time for spring cleaning! I'm here to clear out that layer of dirt that's been sitting on this blog ha. Anyway, here's wishing everyone a great year ahead (: Let's update everyone with what's happening in our lives shall we? I shall start the ball rolling...

I have started school already (duh). Assignments have been given out but im sitting on it still.. what's new right? :) My new year's resolution (apart from doing better in sch) is to be leaner and fitter. I was so into the 2nd part of the resolution for the first 2 wks into January that i went from 53kg(yes i crossed the 50 mark) to 49kg! And then CNY came along.. with the excessive bingeing on pineapple tarts and all its back to 53.5kg, in fact it's another 500g more. great. Oh yeah for those who don't know, my sister got the application for dentistry in Queensland. Happy for her and the family since there's someone taking over now! Hm. What else? Hy and i will be planning a trip to korea this june. havent started mapping out the details yet. but if anyone of you guys wanna come along, you are most welcomed to! We should meet up one more time before jas and rach go for their exchange!

ps's weapon was red and black long socks. (in place of leggings ok, leepeng!)
and chiteng's apparently ugly shoes, her nj tie (which was eventually worn by michelle! suits her better. hah.) and being sporting, chit wore the socks with me! oh! and chit's TT specs.

3) michelle:
michelle was, in her own words "classic." (hah cute!).. she wore the njc uniform, w fbt. and eventually with a njc tie!

4) shumin:
shumin was pardoned cause she came from macritchie, our training elf.

5) rachel:
her weapon was her skirt and shirt matchingggg. hahah! interesting lor.

Man, don't you guys just LOVE green?

That day was a lovely day (: we met outside the Shodoku restaurant and took pics of our greeny selves. As usual, we ordered a lot of stuff! (coz there's van and me ard mah) Jas's favourite: salmon sashimi and unagi yanagawa, van ordered this green tea shake that just blew all of us away and we ordered like 4 cups again, hy's unagi omelette thingy, some omelette rice with ketchup etc

Mindy and van brought up the infamous minghui quote: the eyes in you fire! it got everyone fired up and laughing like crazy!
Shumin said like a couple of our guys are training with nus canoe, yingqin sam wj alan. ha. u know how alan can get a bit weird sometimes. accd to shumin, some girl actually treats hi quite well, on his birthday (or is it? sm, correct me if im wrong) made him alot of banana related stuff. he asked why, she didnt know how to answer coz she didnt wanna say "coz u look like a monkey?" ha. it was hilarious. go see facebook and look at them, u will know what i mean ha.

Later they surprised me from behind with a breadtalk mango+choc cake! which reminds me of the 1st time u guys celebrated my birthday with me - the steps near the nj track! Hy sang happy birthday in korean, van in malay ha. i got a bag from chit hy and leep! an arty-farty book from jas! and a book filled with nostalgia from tsinli!

Then it came to the part when they started asking sm to do do slutty poses. xintian was teaching her how to do it haha. one of the pictures is damn funny. it was as mindy termed it 'photo of the year'.

When we were about to leave, i realised my car keys were gone (yeah i drove that day ha). Searched everywhere in my bag, and everyone searched theirs. the restaurant helped too but no luck. yeah cant find it in the end so had to call the tow truck over. weird thing was the car wasnt locked, either i forgot to or the person who took the keys tried pressing. So some sat in the car to wait while some of us settled some issues with the carpark security. Thanks again guys for waiting and settling stuff for me!

it was getting quite late alr, so i asked them to go back first while i wait for the tow truck. Van stayed behind with me! (: sat in the car, tellin each other cold jokes while waiting... after abt nearly 45mins, the GREEN towtruck finally came! van was even more excited than me about the whole being-towed-away thing ha! so while we were being towed in the stuffy car, had to open the doors every now and then when the car stopped! fresh air was never so good..

Quite alot of drama in one day i wld say ha, but all's fine now. Car's back with the spare keys (that my dad couldnt find initially) found. i still love that day (:

it was really painful and dreadful walking in the evening at 5+pm. headed to grocery store cause intended to do steamboat and it was like blizzardly icerain, hitting against your face. i wouldnt be surprised if i get cuts all around my face. luckily into the night, it wasnt ice anymore. but lotsandlots of snow. making the whole atmostphere fogged up. weather network of "menacing snowstorm for southern ontario". ha, i thought i was vbrave (& crazy!) for going out. ;p

hmm.. okay. anyway, i posted photos at last.

thanks buddy. i miss our times in JC class. like totally. remembering the times we had outside our level one class, just sitting on the bench and looking at the scenery and we were talking. i rmber how we were close to ms tan and cher,val they all. the library days! hah. and you always scolding me for doing trng stuff during lectures. hah. so many memories of just the two of us yknow? and then theres michelle. my captain. (: a valuable and the best support, partner i could have. i remembered the time you went off to cry over the change in partners for k1 and all of us went to find you around school. somehow, at tt point of time, i knew where u could be. (ive no idea why, my feet just brought me where u were.) and i saw u from far. but i didnt approach u first and i guess i just stood there and felt how painful it was to felt like u felt tt moment (just like when i 'lost' jasmin too.) yeah. felt like i couldnt give enough of me to walk up to you first as the rest come along soon later. i rmbered tt time. i rmbered popping by ur place to stay even -random or smth! even other than Njc, when we chilled out at ur house or at pizza place at 6th ave..telling u about cp and how i crazily (&badly) became the vcapt. -.- hah. and all the stuff we talked about.

theres huiying. your dad and me rushing down to the hospital and spending time with you. and i rmbered when you were having high fever, and you insist on taking k1 in the rain and end up, both of us sat at mac's platoon and just talk. you coming out from ur national k1 race finals and hugging me and i feeling proud of you. you were there for me too during the rship stuff in hall. telling me you wouldnt want me to be that affected and go crazy..etc. yeah. man, those words, i still rmber. about you, how u think such high expectations of me as a person; that sometimes i felt like i let u down or that i felt u have been hard/critic of me and i guess i felt sad. but the crucial point, u wld always be supporting me, that i know.

theres bang bang. which i only got to know you muchhh more in ntu. but i rmbered Nj, 'saying' you, asking u to be not so stable cause ur jnr partner sucks in balancing without you. hah. rmber the three numbers and the last number being capsized. in ntu, being my neighbour w hy. sometimes, the therapy thing regarding cp. hah. hanging out with you on sundays, the 'stroke' on the back. the car ride to hy's church from boonlay to changi and back, oh man, irritating gprs-chit. hah.. and just chats and nonsense we do isnt it?

theres leepie. hah. those k1 days. i guess i was really harsh towards you regarding ur k1 and running i guess. but the good thing is i managed to know ur heart a little more as i talked to you more i guess. and u have a real good heart. i am doing fine here. 1st week of school has started. and yeah..its okayy.. workload is alot.
and its a totally different style of teaching.
sometimes we even have blackboard teaching.

and the students here are real participative and etc.

i get what they mean. they reallyyyy study hard and play hard.
almost lke they are 2 different people in the day time and night time. hah.
like, they love to drink. so its like common for them to go to the pubs or what at least twice a week.

recently, i was dragged into a night out with my housemates and their friends. dragged cause they met me on the streets as i was walking back from a friend's place's dinner and i was whisked off from there. wanted to go to this club. but it was super packed! although we reached there around 945pm. we waited for 1 hour + and we still had to wait! so anyway, we changed our plans and just wanted to go this guy's - Johno's house to chill etc. well.. but some of us.. we went for a detour before we went to the house. i followed the girl who sublet me the room- Natasha and friends to this Commerce house party. whoo..its really crazy down there..etc. its like this party for invites only. ICBC competition. so its like this pre-competition party. and they have the smartest people from Commerce in there, and some even from other school's participants. but they are so different! they were like drinking and dancing and talking..etc. we managed to crash in... hah. (also cause we were from Commerce and guys usually let pretty girls in. ha.) so yeah. i guess it was a good experience.

but dont worry, im not as 'hiong' as vanessa lim peixian. ;p haha. no offence! i only drink like 3 mouthful of beer. period. and also; since i came here. yep.

guess i am still feeling the culture and stuff like that. i still prefer the quieter kind of fun i guess. yep (:

hmmm..what else. ive no idea. hah.
went Walmart, grocery shopping. cook quite often. had a slumber party. drank Bubble tea (chitttyyy bang bang!! miss that eh!), watched movies. cheap thrills like jumping up and down at a bus stop cause it was too cold or like having a run racing down 2 sides of the streets at -3 degrees. etcetc.

yeah like yesterday night, went out w the ntu girl and 4other canadians. we headed to the bar after that.. but we didnt stay long. yep..etc.

really do intend to go travel alittle.
im rather close to this 3 other singaporean girls.
i met them only during the exchange commerce orientation. (which is just talks by profs and lunch.) 2 of them are from NTU NBS 3rd year and i didnt know -_-" and the other girl is the only one from SMU.
so yeah.. we are going to Montreal the coming weekend for a weekend trip. the 2 girls are taking the bus cause their parents feel that its not safe to drive in winter.. (so if i die.. you guys know why/where/how. ha.) (i admit its not really safe too cause theres like snow and ice..) so they will meet us there. while me and the SMU girl, along w 1 guy and a german guy would be taking the car.

Well last week lp and I were working at some call centre in science park. We were working as telemarketers, making calls to Hong Kong. It was kinda of fun as we laughed at their creative english names like Bats, Dragon, Asia, Abut and etc, rushed to meet our targets and we have very entertaining colleagues too! And so now lp's cantonese is better.at least that's what she thinks.haha. Oh well too bad they changed us to another project which was something related to sales that we decided to quit. So NOW we are JOBLESS!! Oh and we just went for an interview at candy empire. Hopefully they will call us later:) Then all of you can come here and buy candy from us:)Wish us luck!

1. finally braced myself to get my braces done ha.

i didnt want to bite so when i was eating sushi a few days ago, i hardly chewed and swallowed it down. it scratched the throat, there was inflammation and was down with fever. what a stupid reason to fall sick right ha.

2. Have been studying really hard for my driving test. i had both my BTT and final theory evaluation (not FTT yet ha!)all within this week and proud to say that i passed (:

Alright people, it's me! (:

Supposed to be talking about how's my life right? hmmm, life has been a little busy yet I think it is quite peaceful and enjoyable. Meaning nothing disasterous has happen, except for the exam's results which will come in much later...

Anyway! Since exams ended, I have been working at you guess where, YES CGH yet again. Doing the same old stuff. I am glad that nothing changed much there! Happy to be with people I know and things I am familiar with :D

Competition just ended last week for the ntu cp girls. Was a tad disappointing because we didn't get into top 3. We got 4th lol. But if you were to overlook the results, we went as far as we could and put up a fight in the competition despite our lousy equipment and unexperienced side.

Okay don't talk about my seniors. I am unexperienced, compared to the poly girls who have played for like 3 years? Nonetheless it was quite fun(throwing a ball around is always fun!) but I got myself an ugly tanline which I don't want to show you girls. Hahah.

Other than all these, I am basically just going out, shopping, playing, watching drama whenever I can at home. I am also preparing for my mission trip this coming 14june where i will be going to some villages in Msia to dig well and walk in mud(as promised).

I think we are building some stuff for the villagers too! In any way, just hope we are able to make the tinniest difference in their lives and will be glad to be able to bring a smile :D

And girls! My love life is sadly nonexisting, so you guys must kipnap my cute tutor for me okay! I have been pining for him since the last time I saw him which is during my examinations. How saddening and pathetic is that you tell me!

I wonder why he doesnt come CGH to do an ecg... boohoohoo! But other than this, everyone around me is great! At least for now. Leepeng still drives me crazy but I am dealing with it. Hahah.

Okay! Hope life has been kind on everyone of you and I think we should be very proud of our own Shumin and Xintian because they are so fast in canoeing! hahah I am going to be lagging behind them if I train with them now!

Alright, as a response to peishan's calling for us to update my boring life, here it is.

Well, holidays mean training, so xt and I train every morning except sunday. Erm, I'll try to be more hardworking and go for a few evening trainings for gym etc soon, haha. The exam season is over, which means my tuition has no business recently, until the kid's mum's kiasuism kicks in again so I'll have $$$ again.

Oh, actually last week xt and I went to apply for some Starhub promoter thingy, attracted by the short and flexible hours (2 weekdays, 1 sat/sun, 3 hrs each time) we even went for the 3 hour training (the team leader telling us about the promotions) but we realised that sales is really not our thing after one work session, so we quit.

As the job is purely commission-based, we didn't get a single cent for the 3 hours standing at the traffic crossing of bugis village and the kuan yin temple side, but it was quite a good experience. For one, we came across old people who already have maxonline and cable tv and came up to us purely to chat about how cable tv is good, the programmes are very nice, singapore politics taxi-driver complaining style, phone bills are unreasonably high (some ah pek was haolian-ing about how he has 3 phones but uses only 1 and how pre-paid card is enough and worth it cos he claims he hardly uses hp but the bills are very high- pulling out bill after bill to demonstrate his point.. but going by his longwindedness.. hm it's kinda likely he forgets the time when he chatters on the phone?) We were trapped there smiling until our faces were gonna cramp, nodding and yah-ing but they were super engrossed in their talk, oblivious to our increasingly blatant hints of disinterest and us shooting desperate looks of "HELP!" to our team leader and they showed absolutely no intention of letting us go. Our team leader, after seeing us being tormented for a long time finally took pity on us and took over handling them. He commented, "aiya, these old people got no one to talk to at home lah, that's why they resort to this." *For an even more realistic and interesting version, visit xt's blog*

Sigh, I hope I don't ever become like them when I grow old! I was sufficiently surprised by them to describe the above to my parents in detail to warn them never to become like that. They had a good laugh until I said they were showing early signs of becoming like that.. hahaha. Anyway, I don't think I'll be getting a job other than maybe another tuition assignment cos it's really not easy to commit if we wanna train.

Went back with xt, val and cherlynn to NJ today for the Yong Tau Foo. Sadly, the owners have changed and the new food is Not Nice At All, we should have listened to Wanda). Stupid Sean Chua told Weili that the YTF auntie died of leaukemia, scared us lah, when she simply retired to enjoy life as a grandma. After eating, we decided we really needed air-con. On val's suggestion, we went to Mark Lo's office. Haha it's really fun going back to visit man. We were making a lot of noise, talking rubbish, messing around with his office decorations but he was not at all annoyed at us and even seemed amused, and treated us to swiss chocolates. haha Van, are you jealous? :p

Anyway, I should be free to meet up on 26/27 may, but please try to keep costs low as no work = no money lah, I am a poor girl now. :(

hey pple!!

i just came back from cambodia, went there for overseas CIP. It was damn fun. very memorable and meaningful experience. first time in a third world country, never expected that one day i'll get to live in a village, bathing with well water, walking in mud and sitting in a lumuk(motorcycle with a trailer attached behind). we taught the kids there english and other stuff, it was super hard at first cause their english is very minimal, but towards the end it got really fun. i was really amazed at their level of contentment, the amount of joy one dented soccer ball can bring to them and many other little things. oh!! during our stay at the village, there was this little rascal, 3 yr old boy that is super notorious!! he kept stealing our stuff, and he has SIX FINGERS on each hand, and seven toes on both feet. i took a picture with him.

on the last day, we got to siem reap, where i visited Angkur Wat(tomb raider was fimed there), very nice place, ancient ruins of a temple. At last we got to stay in a hotel, back to civilisation. Siem reap has super alot of pubs there, full of angmohs, and the drinks are super cheap. there was a pub called angkur what?.. haha, i was laughing like mad. i really miss cambodia, and i can't wait to meet u guys too. TO THOSE WHO SAY MINDY IS TYPICAL XIAO JIE AND PAMPERED.. kwa kwa kwa. I'M NOT!

hey girls, this is probably one of the best posts i read so far.

From a friend's blog.I also made an observation today: 'Silent' love is a more beautiful love than 'loud' love.You know how some couples like to blatantly 'express' their intimacy in public. Like kiss, hug, have eyes only for each other that kind of sarcharrine sweetness thing? It's very obvious their love, but it's also very cliched. Cos everyone's all over each other. Sometimes it just makes you go, "Not in my face please."

Then there is another form of affection. One that is subtle and quiet. Like it's the love that you don't 'see', but it's the love that you can 'feel'. Take this really deep and nice gay friend of mine, he's name is E and he's in his 30s. After being gay like since... forever, he has met this woman and for the first time, is deeply in love with her. And I find it so magical. Becos even though he doesn't like to reveal too much about her or gush or 'revel' in her, I can see the quiet love that does not show. How he goes off on a vacation with her and is silently smitten over her. And it also proves to me that love really transcends the boundaries of gender. If a gay man who has been gay all his life, can one day fall for a woman, what more you and me? Love is not so much about the 'outside', but ultimately it's the 'inside' that counts. And I think the quiet love which does not show but enamates from within is the most beautiful of all. It's like the kind of love that when your lover is asleep and you look upon them silently and smile from within. It's the kind of love that your parents look at you with silent pride and satisfaction when you smile and call them 'pa' or 'ma' as a toddler. It's the love you don't profess to your siblings or family out of pride but you know you love them more than anybody in the world and would die for them. It's the love that doesn't ask for anything in return (cos 'loud' love expects similar reciprocation and 'loud' love to be given in return). It's the love that you only tell to God cos it's sacred.

Today I was in the mrt, and I saw 3 couples. 2 were on the seats, in the usual couple embrace. The third couple was very young and they had a small child with them. Must be a shot-gun marriage I presumed. The father was very ah-beng, with his hairdo, ear piercings and clothes. But he was tender with the child, kissing her on her head and staying close to his daughter. To see an ah-beng show such affection was heart-warming. He is a father. A father. How beautiful is that? How beautiful is that love? He didn't have to kiss her head to let me know that he loves her. Quiet love is 'felt' not seen. And even though E is a hundred miles away in a foreign land with his girlfriend, I can feel the quiet love already. Cos you don't have to say or display it, it already shows...

after reading it, i realise how special love really is, its so easy for us to say "love ya", but theres so much more to the word. one thing for sure, i really do mean it when i say it to you girls.love ya babes.mindy

My flight back is on 3rd July.. seems such a longlonglong way more huh 5 more months! But then again time is seriously FLYING I can't believe it's Feb already! Ugh..

This Charity Run aims to raise funds for Very Special Arts (VSA) Singapore, a charitable organisation seeking to provide people with disabilities with opportunities to access the arts for rehabilitation and social integration.

For every lap run round the track, money will be raised for VSA Singapore to fund their training programmes and scholarship grants, among other things. hey guys!

For the team outing, ps was suggesting that we could get the juniors to join us! So i was thinking mayb we could get a big room with ktv facilities, not kbox la coz too expensive ha so i was thinking of those country club ones.

As for the food part, potluck? Everybody try to make something! Must be edible and wont cause food-poisoning! haha. Van! its your chance to show us your baking and cooking skills! And! everyone must go get a present, just one present. dont have to be very extravagant, just try to keep it below 20+ or if u want, can go higher ;) On that day presents will be placed in this bag then everyone will have to draw their presents from it (of course u can draw again if u get the present which u bought ha).

So the holidays are here again and this time I am sure most of us will want it to count in many aspects. I hope one of the aspect includes making time for this team that I still hold dearly onto. Not expecting us to like meet every week this december but I guess we can expect more than one outing coming our way?(c'mon!).

1. Strings Musical
Venue: Riverlife church(my church la actually haha)

Date: 21st Dec

Time: 4:30pm

Description: This is my youth ministry christmas production this year. I really think it is going to be awesome because it is one of the biggest scale youth musical we have ever done. I kind of like musical(i know ps don't but she is nice enough to say yes to my invitation). And the cool thing is the songs that we used for this musical is written by us(by the worship team actually) so I think it is really going to be interesting!

2. Christmas party

No details about this yet but was just talking to ps about it. She was saying she can book her function room for us and we can like bake n cook our own food! I think will be super fun! Haha so people, throw in the ideas!

Hi to the dead blog, I wonder who actually really comes here(except maybe van). But nonetheless, hope everyone is doing great! I know it's kind of hard to be REALLY doing great with exams this close(ntu start already actually) but still hope all of us are living each day the way we want to.

So good luck to you peeps for the exams! For those who believe, I pray that God at this period of time will continue to pour down unconditional shower of blessing on you guys. May He be granting all of us increased brain capacity(I always tell God I need that) and good time management. I also pray that we will learn how to do our best and trust that He will do the rest. Also I pray that at this intense period of studying, we will not neglect Him but continue to shine as the light He always wanted us to be. I also hope that we know when we honour Him, He will honour us. So I pray all these in Jesus' name, Amen!

hey guys, it's been a week since i have returned from my cambodia field trip (26sep-29sep). For those who didnt know, i went there not for a holiday, it was actually a compulsory thing organised by the faculty for the yr1s. yep so i took some pictures la.. but hm, not many pictures of myself inside(too busy taking the stuff ard ha). I didnt know cambodia was a third world country, i always thought it was something like thailand. things are pretty backward there to the extent that even their urban planning govt dont even have a proper map showing the shops they have or where the exact location of settlements etc.

we took jetstar. and when the plane landed at siem reap international airport, i noticed there were only 2 planes. ours and another small plane. but the nice thing was that feeling of walking out of the plane, embracing the vast space in front of us which we cant experience in Singapore coz we have proper covered linkways.

isnt this girl cute? ha. We stayed at a guesthouse called jasmin lodge. this cambodian girl was the daughter of the lodge's owner. rates were quite cheap at the guesthouse, rooms were.. hm.. well infested with mosquitoes(well at least for my room it is...). i shared room with 2 other girls. never ever drink tap water there coz it's a little yellow and it has this metallic smell.

Surprisingly! the food there's good.. but in some places pretty oily. above: their version of fried rice mixing in carrots and cabbage and green veg. below s a plate of fried noodles which unfortunately was swimming in oil. (not mine haha! my friends's)

this is photographed in the Bayon Temple, which you could see a lot alot of their face towers shown above.

ha this was a self shot! (damn ugly la my face like so fat..shit) im drinking Angkor Beer, cambodian beer that is. pretty mild compared to tiger beer which is so much more bitter.. and yes i can drink! (:

this dish 's called amok in young coconut. classified under curry section. amok=fish. it s really good! that was all that was left!

i wont show u guys much picture on the architecture.. i think it would just bore u guys so i ll put up pics with cambodian people in it.. ha. That old lady just sat there the whole while, probably waiting for people to give her something. there are a lot of kids there also who will swarm to u, pester u to buy stuff from them. if u dont, they ll follow u for as long as they can..

this is taken at another temple (there are alot of temples in angkor!) called Ta Prohm, well known for its huge tall trees which grow among the rocks and buildings. There are a couple of trees around in the temple but this one's the most famous, coz of its scale and the way it 'engulfs' the walls.. pretty cool..

ok guys if i hv time, i ll give u a part 2 on it.. ha.. but thats all for now la!
